Make a difference for Children, donate to Home Away from Home

After 120+ children living on Tanager Place Inpatient Campus year after year we are working to make some important renovations and updates. “It is time”, shared Okpara Rice, CEO. “Anytime you live with children, over the years there is guaranteed wear and tear in your living environment.”

Tanager Place announces The Home Away From Home 2018 campaign. Work to update the environment will bring a new sense of HOME to the children. The renovation includes new paint, furniture, counters, siding, and flooring. Work began on this project in October 2017 and we are close to completion. “Private donations came in with seed money for this project,” said Rice, “our goal for the summer campaign is $46,000 to finish all of the work.”

The new cottage enhancements have changed the kids’ attitudes. “We worked to welcome the kids back into their cottages as the early renovations were completed,” shared Tim Feldman, Assistant Program Coordinator. “When the kids saw their new space they were excited. They want to care for their space; they take pride in their surroundings.”
