September 12, 2016(Cedar Rapids, IA) – History has a way of repeating itself, especially when it comes to making a positive difference in the Cedar Rapids community. That’s why General Mills is once again teaming up with Tanager Place to encourage at-risk children and families to make healthy food choices and practice healthy living.
Tanager Place has been awarded a $15,000 grant from the General Mills Foundation to support the Nutrition Education program at Tanager Place. The program provides at-risk children who struggle with social or psychological issues the chance to develop knowledge and skills to make healthy food choices and practice healthy living.
“General Mills has been a wonderful sponsor of our Nutrition Education program for the past ten years. They are our premier sponsor for our annual Summer Fest and golf invitational. Teams from General Mills share sweat equity at Camp Tanager each summer for Camp Clean Up Day as well. Long-time devoted friends, the General Mills team have shared a vibrant relationship with us since 1991” said Joan Hackbarth, Director of Community Relations.
The philanthropy of the General Mills Foundation combines with the company’s 150 years of food expertise to serve the world. The foundation focuses on increasing community food security worldwide, advancing the sustainability of agriculture and protecting the natural resources upon which food and people depend.
