Tanager Place Offers Free Virtual Film Screening on Finding Balance in the Digital World

Tanager Place is partnering with Girls on the Run to offer a virtual film screening of the IndieFlix original documentary LIKE. The event takes place on March 4, 2021 at 6:00pm.

The goal of the film is to inspire us to self-regulate. Social media is a tool and social platforms are a place to connect, share, and care… but is that what’s really happening?

The documentary explores the effects of technology on the brain. LIKE is the second installment in the IndieFlix Mental Health Trilogy (Angst, LIKE, & The Upstanders), exploring the impact of social media on our lives.

“This film is a great opportunity for all parents and caregivers, alongside their teens and tweens, to gain research based information not only on the potentially negative impact of social media and smartphones; but also, how together they can create shared norms for what balance means to them. I really appreciate the approach this film uses to not focus on blaming anyone, rather it focuses on how families can feel empowered to discover what works best for them. Sometimes this conflict can feel overwhelming for parents and teens, the LIKE documentary really helps provide a path to resilience through achieving a balance,” commented Jennie Null, LMFT, RPT-from Tanager Place.

Following the film there will be a panel discussion and access to further resources and materials. A recorded version of the screening will be available to registrants after the screening for a limited time.

The event is sponsored by Bank of America.  View the film trailer at https://youtu.be/9qVi63wG2OM. Register at https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_r6CrVfvaSPiov_NsOpNlzQ
