Tanager Place has received a grant from Variety – the Children’s Charity to fund the purchase of a new van.
Tanager Place is a nonprofit organization in Eastern Iowa that provides children and families with mental and behavioral health services. As Iowa’s premier mental health facility, Tanager Place focuses on treatment, prevention and outreach to serve children struggling with severe mental, emotional, psychological, and/or intellectual challenges.
The Variety grant replaced an aging vehicle that was no longer safe for regular use. Tanager Place inpatient clients regularly attend off campus appointments and activities in the community. This structure requires Tanager Place to maintain a fleet of minivans to transport clients.
“We are excited about this gift from Variety – the Children’s Charity. Safe transportation is a priority for the agency. The new vehicle will allow us to continue providing daily transportation services to our clients,” said Okpara Rice, CEO of Tanager Place.
