YouthPort – Three Organizations. One Mission.

YouthPort member organizations pool resources to offer services that help build a stronger community. Our programs are created to meet specific neighborhood needs and provide children and families with:

  • Shelter and safety
  • Nutritious meals
  • Academic support
  • Social skill development
  • Prenatal and parenting education and support
  • Opportunities to boost parental engagement
  • Mental health counseling

All programs are designed by child development experts to meet the needs of children of all ages and are centered around family involvement and education. The three member organizations include:

Boys & Girls Club of Cedar Rapids

Offers a safe space for children before and after school. Programming includes health, life skills, recreation and fitness activities as well as study time that includes an organized tutoring program. Children receive a nutritious breakfast and dinner, and are transported to and from school by bus.

Young Parents Network (YPN)

Offers a prenatal and parenting group at Polk Alternative Education Center. The group meets weekly, and participants enjoy an evening meal. The network also holds quarterly family events such as the Fall Family Fun Fest.

Tanager Place

Offers diagnosis, assessment, support and treatment for children and teens with mental health, behavioral or emotional needs.
