School Based

Erin Balvanz

“Erin became a Master of Social Work at Rutgers, the State University of NJ and earned her BA from the University of WI – Madison with dual degrees in Social Work and Women’s Studies.  The most used tools in her therapeutic tool bag include: mindfulness, trauma informed, person-centered, and expressive arts therapies.

I was, born and raised in Iowa, traveled the U.S. and the world, then returned to the heartland to find my roots again. Some of my greatest life lessons I’ve learned include: living out loud can be done quietly, that the mind is the body and the body is the mind, and when tango dancing, finding my own center first was key to opening up to greater grace and creativity when dancing with others. My therapy focuses on tools to understand the mind-body connection which helps people of any age find their own core, calm, center, and how to trust their body and voice, no matter the volume. I hope to help both children and adults understand that the only constant in life is change, to trust the process, and that the journey to mental well-being may include a time of inward contemplation and/or chaos before the caterpillar can transform to a butterfly.”
