Tanager Place

Welcome to National Play Therapy Week

The week of February 2 is set aside as National Play Therapy Week — a time we celebrate the importance of play for children and families and honor the work done by therapists as they promote children’s health.

At Tanager Place, we use play every day because of its benefits for children as a mode of communication, source of expression and path toward healing. Six Registered Play Therapists are part of our Outpatient services and we have 14 more clinicians currently pursing the credential.

Our staff members have planned some special activities in honor of National Play Therapy Week:

  • In our clinic lobbies, find ideas for ways your family can spend time playing together.
  • Keep an eye on Tanager Place’s social media channels to learn why our therapists believe in play therapy and why it works. You may also be introduced to some of their favorite play therapy toys.
  • At mid-week, we’ll publish a second blog that provides more insight into play therapy and how it works.
  • You and your child can use your creative abilities to let us know why you love play therapy in the clinic lobbies.

For immediate access to a wealth of knowledge about play therapy and play therapists, visit the Association for Play Therapy website. Happy National Play Therapy Week!
