YouthPort
Helping children and their parents succeed.
YouthPort member organizations pool resources to offer services that help build a stronger community. All programs are designed by child development experts to meet the needs of children of all ages and are centered around family involvement and education. Our programs are created to meet specific neighborhood needs and provide children and families with:
- Shelter and safety
- Nutritious meals
- Academic support
- Social skill development
- Prenatal and parenting education and support
- Opportunities to boost parental engagement
- Mental health counseling
Boys & Girls Club of the Corridor
Offers a safe space for children before and after school. Programming includes health, life skills, recreation, and fitness activities as well as study time that includes an organized tutoring program. Children receive a nutritious breakfast and dinner and are transported to and from school by bus.
YPN (Young Parents Network)
Offers multilingual prenatal and parenting groups at Kirkwood Community College and Hoover Elementary, as well as home visits in Linn & Jones counties and literacy programs throughout the year. Participants enjoy an evening meal, transportation and on-site childcare as needed. YPN is also home of the We Care Shop and The Eastern Iowa Diaper Bank.
Tanager
Offers diagnosis, assessment, support, and treatment for children and teens with mental health, behavioral, or emotional needs. To be a part of YouthPort, contact Briana Ingwersen, bingwersen@tanagerplace.org or 319-365-9165.
