Time: Doors open at 5:00 pm – Come early to enjoy cocktail hour and browse the silent auction before dinner and performances.

Location: The Hotel at Kirkwood Center, 7725 Kirkwood Blvd SW, Cedar Rapids, IA

Accommodations: Discounted rooms are available at Hotel Kirkwood. Make your reservations by calling 319-848-8700 and tell them you are staying for the Tanager Gala.

The Songwriters Soirée supports Tanager’s Prevention Programs which provide critical skills and support that empower children and teens to build mental well-being and resilience. These programs—including Camp Tanager, LGBTQ Youth Center, and CDF Freedom Schools— are nearly 100% funded through donations, grants, and sponsorships . Your support will nurture and grow these programs, ensuring every young person has the resources to RISE and live their full potential.

Marques Morel is an American songwriter/story-teller, midwestern-twanger/folksinger, guitar-thumper/harmonica wailer, street-performer/wandering troubadour, steadfast woodcutter/migrant worker, a father, a son, and a friend to all. Kelsey Madsen

Kelsey teaches music at Norway Intermediate, Orchestra Iowa, and Eastern Iowa Arts Academy. She loves performing with Alicia Moneé in the local band Vibe as well as guiding people in the practice of yoga. Her deepest gratitude to the many humans who have taught and loved her including many therapists and healers. Kelsey has seen first hand the power of Tanager prevention services when she worked at Tanager Freedom Schools program she says she is grateful for the invaluable impact of Tanager.
