Social Skills Group

Empowering Connections.

Tanager’s Social Skills group is a year round prevention program that provides a judgement free place for children to practice and create a toolbox of skills they can utilize in social settings throughout their lives. Groups participate in fun activities including music, art, community outings and special events with the goal of developing skills such as:

  • Build and maintain relationships with same age peers
  • Work towards better regulating emotions
  • Develop conversation skills
  • Practice taking turns and playing group games
  • Learn to better address situations when they find themselves hyper fixated on a singular subject

Upcoming Events

Get your child involved the Social Skills Groups at one of our upcoming events:

If the Cedar Rapids School District cancels school or releases school early due to weather, Tanager Social Skills Groups will not meet that evening. Social skills coaches will post the announcement on the Tanager Facebook page and with local television stations.
