Maddie Smith

Maddie attended Hawkeye Community College and the University of Iowa where she earned her Bachelors and Masters degrees in Social Work. “I chose to work at Tanager Place because I believe in our mission and want to help kids succeed,” she said.

It is my belief that everyone in this world is deserving of love. I believe that everything we do is an opportunity to spread love and goodness in this world. I believe all humans are inextricably linked. It is my mission to help others gain knowledge, understanding, and feelings of acceptance. Forgiveness and grace are the most healing powers we possess and should be used accordingly. I believe it is my duty to help my fellow humans by using the gifts I have been so lucky to have. I am propelled by lifelong learning and a sense of hope that love will prevail.

When she is not at work, Maddie enjoys cooking and baking and is always searching out new recipes.

“I wish to spread love wherever I go through compassion for others and constant learning and growth.”
