Youth Mental Health First Aid

Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) teaches adults how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illness and substance use disorders in youth (ages 12-18).

This training gives adults who work with youth the skills they need to reach out and provide initial support to children and adolescents (ages 12 -18) who may be developing a mental health or substance use problem and help connect them to the appropriate care.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
  1. Common signs and symptoms of mental illness in this age group, including: Anxiety, Depression, Eating disorders, Attention deficit hyperactive disorder (ADHD), and many more
  2. Common signs and symptoms of substance use
  3. How to interact with a child or adolescent in crisis
  4. How to connect the person with help
  5. New, expanded content on trauma, addiction and self-care and the impact of social media
WHAT TO EXPECT-BLENDED IN PERSON TRAINING

Prior to this live instructor-led session, attendees will receive information to access the Mental Health Connect Learning Platform where they will complete 2-hours of self-paced learning materials. This learning must be completed before participation in the live, instructor-led workshop.
