Tanager Place Achieves National Accreditation

Tanager Place has achieved national accreditation from the New York-based Council on Accreditation (COA). The four-year accreditation distinguishes Tanager Place as a licensed organization that implements international best practices in the field of human services.

COA accreditation is an objective, independent, and reliable validation of an agency’s performance and assures that Tanager Place’s services are well-coordinated, culturally competent, evidence-based, outcomes-oriented and are provided by a skilled and supported workforce. To achieve COA accreditation, Tanager Place first provided written evidence of compliance with the COA standards.  Thereafter, a group of specially trained Peer Reviewers confirmed adherence to these standards during a series of on-site interviews with trustees, staff and clients. COA evaluated all aspects of Tanager Place’s programs, services, management, and administration.

“This accreditation speaks to the passion, commitment and dedication each employee brings to the organization each and every day. It is a validation of our mission and how we execute on that mission to meet the needs of young people and families,” said Okpara Rice, Tanager Place CEO.

Tanager Place helps children and families overcome challenges and find mental wellness. Through a mix of prevention, treatment and outreach, we give families hope, and children the tools to be successful. More than 4,000 children find healing through Tanager Place’s comprehensive services and programs each year.

Founded in 1977, COA is an independent, not-for-profit accreditor of the full continuum of community-based behavioral health care and social service organizations in the United States and Canada. COA has a total of 47 service standards that are applicable to over 125 different types of programs. To learn more about COA, please visit www.coanet.org.
